The Sheriff’s Office Marine Deputy will be offering free boat inspections on Saturday, May 7th, at the La Grande BiMart during the hours of 9-1.

Many residents of Union County are receiving scam calls claiming they owe the IRS money. Please understand this is a scam, the IRS would not call you about your taxes. DO NOT give them any information, simply hang up. Unfortunately there is nothing local law enforcement can do. The scammers are not located in Union County. If you would like to report reeving one of these calls you can call the Oregon Department of Justice at 1-877-8779392 or visit their website at www.oregonconsumer.gov.
We will be changing the times we do fingerprints for the public on May 1st. The new times will be Tuesday mornings from 0800-1145, Wednesday afternoons from 1200-4:45, and Thursdays from 0800-1200 and 1:00-4:45.
Effective February 1 visiting days and hours in the jail will be changing. Visiting days will be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Visiting hours will be in the afternoons only, no more evening visitation. Appointments will still be taken from 9-1 Monday-Friday excluding holidays but you will no longer be able to schedule appointments for the future, just on the day you want to visit.
You can now get your boat registration at the Sheriff’s Office. We have gotten the materials from the Marine Board and are ready to go. Hours for registration are Monday-Friday from 8-5.
All of the forms on our web site are now fill-able PDFs. Most forms you can fill them out on line, save them and e-mail them to us. Some, like gun permits and job applications, you can fill out on line but then will need to print them out to sign them.
