The Union County Sheriff’s Office Drug Detection dog “Jack” and his handler, Deputy Travis Schaad began working together in 2008. “Jack” is a purebred Chocolate Lab. “Jack” is trained to detect a variety of illegal drugs including methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, and heroin.
“Jack” and Deputy Schaad are certified through the Pacific Northwest Police Detection Dog Association. They have both been rigorously trained and re-certify as a drug detection team each year.
“Jack” assists other law enforcement agencies in Union County when requested. He has also assisted local schools and he and Deputy Schaad have done presentations at various organizations throughout the county.
